About Dr. Kunz

David W. Kunz, MD, serves his home community of Lawrenceville, Georgia, at Sugarloaf Wellness Center. As an extension of Perisseia Primary Care, his second practice offers additional wellness and medical aesthetic services.

Dr. Kunz completed his undergraduate in religious studies at Wake Forest University, graduating magna cum laude. He went on to earn his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine.

Following graduation, Dr. Kunz completed his family medicine internship and residency at the U.S. Naval Regional Medical Center. In the Medical Corps, he served on the family practice staff at Naval Hospital, Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station where he attained the rank of lieutenant commander. There he gained expertise and instructed others in advanced trauma life support.

After his service in the Navy, Dr. Kunz returned to Atlanta to practice in the Gwinnett Hospital System, serving as chief of family medicine for several years. He formed Perisseia Physicians, LLC, a physicians’ management group, in 1998 in response to the rise of computerized medical information systems.

Dr. Kunz earned his designation as diplomate from the American Board of Family Medicine. He also maintains current memberships with the American Academy of Family Physicians, Christian Medical and Dental Associations, Georgia Academy of Family Physicians, Gwinnett-Forsyth Medical Society, Medical Association of Georgia, and the Southern Medical Association. He also has affiliations with Gwinnett Medical Center.

As a Christian family man, Dr. Kunz spends his free time loving and caring for his wife and four adult children. He takes an active role in his faith by soaking up the words from his pastor, participating in church fellowship, and prioritizing his study time.

Dr. Kunz also dedicates time to his wellness as an avid bicycle fanatic, swimmer, and gym goer. He also enjoys exploring his creative side through writing, playing guitar, and singing.
