One thing I hope I never do is ignore what you, the patient, are trying to say to me, then, without waiting for your affirmation, do what I’m gonna do. Though I am the doctor, and have had the blessed opportunity to acquire a lot of education and expertise, you are the expert on your own body. You live in that skin and are the specialist on you.
William Osler, one of the fathers of modern medicine, is famously quoted as having said, “Listen to your patient… he’s telling you the diagnosis.”
