Coffee is bad?
In my 30+ year medical career, nothing epitomizes the controversy of medical statistics and the media more than the argument over COFFEE. In the early 80’s, coffee was proclaimed “bad for you” because of an association with increased risk of pancreatic cancer.
Then it was “good” for you. For reasons I can’t remember. Then “bad”. Then “good”.
It’s been “good” for you for a long time. Anti-oxidant effects, Anti-Alzheimer’s, etc., etc.
Now, apparently, coffee drinking in excess of 4 cups per day in younger people has been associated with decreased longevity.
I’ll talk more about medical statistics and the media in future blogs.
In the meantime… enjoy your coffee.
