Who is the primary enemy of your own health?
Your environment? Your job? Your family? Stress?
Hate to tell you – or maybe not – you have met the enemy. It’s you.
First, it’s how you eat.
Second, it’s how you sleep.
Third, it’s how much you exercise your machine (your body).
Fourth, it’s how you deal with the rest of everything else: work, relationships, money. That would be Stress.
Isn’t it funny how dysfunction in any of these areas becomes the stressor that “feeds the beast”? How many times have I heard – and yes, said to myself – “Boy, my diet and exercise program didn’t work out for long… Job, schedule, family, money (pick one or more) issues were tough and I just couldn’t get motivated.”
I always wondered over the years the connection between fatigue stress and carbohydrate craving that always went together. Sometimes it’s hard to tell which comes first.
A chicken-and-the-egg question: “Do I crave that doughnut because I’m tired or am I tired because I ate that doughnut?”
The answer to both questions is, “Yes.”
